Custom Mold Minimum
Due to the time and precision involved in designing and machining custom molds, all custom projects require a minimum order of $200.
If your project is smaller, we’d be happy to recommend one of our standard molds or suggest adjustments to meet your budget.

How Our Custom Graphite Mold Process Works
We specialize in designing and machining custom graphite molds for metal casting and related high-temperature applications. To ensure accuracy and performance, we follow a structured process from concept to finished mold.
Step 1 — Customer Design Submission
To begin a custom mold project, we require one or more of the following:
Accepted Design Inputs
-
Hand drawings (clear and legible)
-
Fully dimensioned sketches
-
3D CAD files
-
STL (preferred)
-
STEP / STP
-
3DM
-
STL files are preferred as they allow the fastest turnaround.
If submitting hand drawings, please include:
-
Overall dimensions
-
Cavity depth
-
Draft angles (if known)
-
Any critical tolerances
-
Intended metal type (silver, gold, bronze, etc.)
Step 2 — Model Creation or Refinement
If a usable 3D model is not provided, we can create one based on your drawings or concept.
-
We generate a manufacturable 3D model
-
Geometry is optimized for graphite machining
-
Draft, fillets, and relief are added as needed
Design Adjustments
At this stage, the model can be modified to your specifications, including:
-
Size changes
-
Text or logo adjustments
-
Depth or volume changes
-
Edge radii or surface detail updates
Step 3 — Model Approval
Once the 3D model is complete, we will send a visual preview (and/or STL file) for review.
Customer Confirmation Required
Production does not begin until:
-
The customer confirms the model is correct
-
All dimensions and features are approved
Any changes requested after approval may result in additional charges or lead time adjustments.
Step 4 — Machining the Graphite Mold
After approval:
-
The mold is CNC-machined from high-quality graphite
-
Machining is optimized for surface finish and durability
-
Cavities are cleaned and inspected before shipment
Each mold is produced specifically for your approved design.
Step 5 — Final Inspection & Shipping
Before shipment:
-
Dimensions and features are visually inspected
-
Cavities are cleaned of graphite dust
-
Mold is packaged to prevent damage during transit
Shipping details and tracking information are provided once the mold ships.
Important Notes
-
Graphite molds are designed for experienced users
-
Mold performance depends on material, temperature, and technique
-
Minor surface variations are normal due to graphite’s natural structure
